 Air filters-change all indoor filters
Ceiling fans– clean and adjust ceiling fans so
that air circulates upward
Check fireplace– open fireplace damper and inspect
chimney flue
Outdoor paint– check for peeling, cracking and
coverage
Pipes-check all pipes to prevent freezing
Inspect Attic– check for insulation and leak stains
Inspect Exterior– check all trim, gutters and downspouts
Inspect Portals– inspect chalking, weather stripping,
thresholds, transitions, and windows
Outdoor plumbing– drain outdoor faucets and winterize
hoses and spigots
Smoke detectors-Test smoke detectors and change batteries
Winter
Appliances– check cords, plugs and fixtures for
damage or overload
 Check Seals– check for loose grout tiles and caulk
Dryer– check blow out venting on clothes dryer
Floor registers– set floor registers and grills
to maximize airflow
Gas Fireplace– turn on and test gas fireplaces
GFCI– test GFCIs for functionality and safety
Refrigerator– clean out fridge condenser coils
and drip pan
Seasonal lighting– hang seasonal lighting and remove
later
Toilets– test all toilets for leaks (tank to bowl,
bowl to floor, supply lines)
Spring
Air filters– change indoor air filters
Ceiling fans– clean and adjust ceiling fans that
that air circulates downward
Concrete– check and seal cracks in concrete
 Decks– clean and seal all decks and railings
Garbage disposal– run and check garbage disposal
Patios– tighten screws and nails on decks and patios
Plumbing– change hose and nozzle washers– start
up and check for leaks
Siding– inspect all siding, soffit, and fascia
boards
Sinks– clean mineral deposits from faucet aerators
Smoke detectors– test and change batteries
Windows– check paint and caulking around windows
Summer
Air filters– change indoor air filters
 Crawl space– check for moisture and leaks
Drywall– repair minor drywall dings and touch up
paint
Fences– check tighten and adjust fences, gates
and doors
Fire extinguishers– check fire extinguishers and
test smoke detectors
Foundations– check for shifting or erosion around
house
Lights and switches- check and tighten all light fixtures,
wall plugs and wall switches
Sinks– fill all sinks, drain and check for leaks
Support bars– tighten all handrails, grab bars,
towel racks and shower curtain rods
Trim– check trim and woodwork for scratches, cracks
or receding
Washing machine– check washing machine hoses for
leaks, cracks and weakness
Water heater– flush water heater and refill
